Tokenized real-world asset trading on decentralized exchange Hyperliquid now accounts for more than one-third of its total quarterly activity, according to the platform’s Q2 2026 report published Wednesday. The figures are Hyperliquid’s own and have not been independently audited.

RWA Share of Trading Volume Climbs From 1.8% to 32.2%

HIP-3 RWA perpetual contracts captured 32.2% of Hyperliquid’s trading volume in the second quarter of 2026, a sharp climb from 20.7% in Q1 2026 and just 1.8% in Q4 2025. In absolute terms, RWA trading volume on the platform reached $213 billion during the quarter.

Despite commanding nearly a third of trading activity, RWA contracts generated 6.6% of Hyperliquid’s total quarterly protocol revenue of $169 million. The gap between those two figures is the number worth watching. Volume share and revenue share are moving at very different speeds, which means the category’s growth is not yet translating into proportionate earnings for the protocol or for the buybacks funded out of them.

Token Buybacks and Cumulative Revenue Milestones

Of the $169 million in quarterly revenue, Hyperliquid said it returned $141 million to token holders via Hyperliquid (HYPE) token buybacks. The protocol also reported crossing $1 billion in cumulative protocol revenue.

RWAs Briefly Dominated Weekly Volume in July

The Q2 figures follow an even more striking short-term milestone: RWAs became Hyperliquid’s largest trading category for the first time in the week of July 13 to July 19, when they accounted for 52% of the platform’s total weekly trading volume. By the end of July, RWA perpetual futures volume had reached 99.2% of Bitcoin perpetuals volume on Hyperliquid.

Broader RWA Market Expanding Rapidly

The momentum at Hyperliquid mirrors wider market growth. RWA holders increased 56% to 1.6 million investors over the past month, while the total value of onchain tokenized assets rose 3.3% to $37.8 billion, according to data provider RWA.xyz.

⚖️ Our Verdict 📈 Bullish Signal

A quarter producing $169 million in revenue, $141 million of buybacks and a $1 billion cumulative milestone is real money, and RWA perpetuals going from 1.8% to 32.2% of volume in six months is a genuine shift in what people are trading. The catch is that those contracts delivered only 6.6% of the revenue, so the growth story and the earnings story are not yet the same story, and every figure here is Hyperliquid's own.
