US spot Bitcoin ETFs had their worst day of October on Thursday, losing about $635.6 million in net outflows, according to ETF flow data.
The outflow wiped out nearly 60% of the roughly $1.07 billion that had flowed into the funds over the previous three sessions.
October flips to outflows
October’s net flows had peaked near $460 million on Wednesday. After Thursday, the month stood at about $176 million of net outflows.
Thursday’s figure was also bigger than the previous October high for outflows, $484.9 million on 7 October, which at the time was the worst day since June.
Since launching in January 2024, the funds have taken in about $57.8 billion in total net inflows. They hold about $100.2 billion in net assets.
Ether and Solana funds are also losing money
US spot Ether ETFs lost about $110.6 million on Thursday, bringing their October outflows to about $1.18 billion.
Solana ETFs saw about $8.9 million of outflows, taking their October total to about $68 million. They have had only two days of inflows this month.
Where prices stand
Bitcoin was trading at about $81,460 on Friday, roughly flat on the day and down 4.8% over 30 days.
Ether was at about $2,400, down 11.4% over 30 days, and Solana at about $104, down 10.4%.
What happens next
The next major event is the Federal Reserve’s meeting on 27 and 28 October, where traders expect interest rates to be held. With about a week of trading left in October, a few strong inflow days could still turn the month positive.
