South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics has announced plans to bring native stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet, positioning the company as one of the first major mobile brands to integrate stablecoins directly into a smartphone platform.

Galaxy Unpacked Announcement

Samsung product manager Lee Dinham made the disclosure during the annual Galaxy Unpacked showcase, stating the company intends to unify payments, rewards, and digital assets into a single wallet experience.

‘Samsung Wallet will expand beyond cash and savings. It will embrace new forms of digital value, including stablecoins,’ Dinham said at the event. He added that the move would make Samsung ‘one of the first major mobile brands to bring native stablecoins to a smartphone, enabling fast and trusted digital value transfers.’

Key Details Still Undisclosed

Despite the announcement, Samsung has not revealed which specific stablecoins it plans to support, a launch timeline for the feature, or which partners will power the planned Wallet functionality.

Samsung did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Building on Existing Crypto Infrastructure

The stablecoin move builds on Samsung’s growing blockchain footprint. In October 2025, Samsung expanded its partnership with US crypto exchange Coinbase, enabling Galaxy users in the United States to purchase crypto directly through Samsung Wallet. That integration initially targeted more than 75 million Galaxy users in the country, with a broader rollout planned at the time.

Samsung Wallet already combines payment cards, rewards, and other financial services. The company has also recently introduced the Galaxy Card, which adds another layer to its expanding financial ecosystem.

The Distribution Question

With hundreds of millions of Galaxy devices in circulation globally, any Samsung Wallet stablecoin rollout would represent one of the largest potential distribution channels for stablecoin payments in the consumer smartphone market. For now, though, the scale remains theoretical: without a named stablecoin, a partner, or a launch date, the announcement is a statement of direction rather than a live product.

⚖️ Our Verdict ⚖️ Watch and Wait

A brand with hundreds of millions of devices signalling stablecoin intent is a genuine adoption marker, but Samsung named no token, no partner and no launch date, so the distribution scale everyone is excited about remains entirely potential for now.
