Quick Summary
  • Solana recorded an all-time high of 263,000 new SPL tokens minted in a single day on Wednesday, far exceeding the December 2024 memecoin cycle peak of 40,000 to 50,000 daily tokens.
  • Pump.fun led all launchpads with 34,184 tokens out of 40,360 total launchpad-issued coins, and generated $1.8 million in daily revenue according to DefiLlama.
  • Pump.fun contributed $124 million, or one-third, of Solana's total $342 million in first-quarter 2026 revenue despite a broader cooling in memecoin trading activity.

The Solana blockchain has set a new all-time high for daily token creation, with more than 263,000 Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens minted in a single day on Wednesday 9 September, according to data from Solscan. The figure dwarfs the previous peak of 40,000 to 50,000 tokens issued per day recorded at the height of the memecoin cycle in December 2024.

Pump.fun Dominates Launchpad Activity

Of the 40,360 tokens launched through dedicated launchpad platforms on the record day, memecoin factory Pump.fun claimed the lion’s share, accounting for 34,184 coins, according to a Blockworks dashboard tracking Solana launchpad activity.

Launchpads allow creators to design, deploy and trade memecoins without deep technical knowledge. They handle the token creation process automatically and deliver immediate liquidity and market visibility for newly launched assets.

Those launchpad figures cover only a small part of the day’s total. With 40,360 of the 263,000 tokens created through launchpads, roughly 222,000 were minted by other means. That subtraction is CNR’s own, and neither Solscan nor the Blockworks dashboard breaks down what the remainder consists of. On the same arithmetic, Pump.fun’s 34,184 coins represent about 13% of everything minted that day rather than the bulk of it.

Pump.fun Remains Solana’s Top Revenue Generator

Pump.fun continues to rank as the leading Solana-native protocol by daily revenue. The platform generated $1.8 million in the 24-hour period tracked, according to DefiLlama data.

The platform briefly lost its top revenue spot on Friday 4 September to trading app Fomo, a Solana-based application that blends cryptocurrency trading with a social media-style feed. The lead quickly reverted to Pump.fun.

Looking at a longer horizon, Pump.fun accounted for one-third of all Solana network revenue in the first quarter of 2026, generating $124 million out of the total $342 million recorded across the chain, even as broader memecoin activity cooled during that period.

The milestone underscores Solana’s position as the dominant venue for retail token creation and memecoin speculation, with Pump.fun cementing its role as the primary infrastructure layer for that activity.

⚖️ Our Verdict ⚖️ Watch and Wait

A record is a record, but it is worth being careful about which one was set. Of the 263,000 tokens minted, only 40,360 came through launchpads, so roughly 85% of the day's issuance came from somewhere nobody is breaking down. Pump.fun dominates the launchpad share with 34,184 coins, but that is about 13% of all mints rather than the bulk of the day. The same data also shows first-quarter revenue arriving despite cooling memecoin activity, which sits oddly alongside issuance running at nearly six times the 2024 peak. Minting an SPL token costs almost nothing. None of this tells you anyone is buying.
